About Us

The Stacks Coffeehouse opened in North Portland in October 2018. Owners Nathan and Mary have lived in the neighborhood since 2003, and wanted to create a space where their neighbors could gather together over cups of delicious coffee, great snacks, and beautiful books. Mary was inspired by the library stacks at The University of Texas, where her mother worked, and by the breakfast tacos of her hometown of Austin. Most of the books in The Stacks Community Library were donated by friends and neighbors, and book donations* are always accepted!

The Stacks Coffeehouse is proud to support local authors and to be a part of the literary community in Portland. Take a look at our upcoming events.

*One small bag/one book will always be accepted, even if the shelves are full! And especially if donated directly by the author! Please check ahead first for larger donations.
