The Humble Poets' Open Mic

The Humble Poets' Open Mic will be at The Stacks Coffeehouse on the last Sunday of each month, 4:00-6:00pm.

The June event will feature special guest Kris Woolen.

We are encouraging poets and storytellers to come share their works, and musical accompaniments are welcome as well. The June event will be on June 25. The address is 1831 N. Killingsworth (between Interstate and Denver). And even though poets are generally quite wealthy, this event will be free, with only a suggested donation for those who can. Hope to see you all there!

Kris Woolen is a local performing artist. Her puppet musical, Bird That Wants to Fly, is an adaptation of an opera based on a book by the same name. The book was written by Portland area author Dr. Diane Kaufman who is a poet and child Psychiatrist. She wrote the book as part of an arts medicine workshop. The characters include a sad bird and a magical horse. Bird and Horse combine to create Pegasus - the symbol of creativity.
